Auchlinsky, Commonedge and Seamab Hills

Wednesday 16 August - 10:30am
A relatively easy, 5 mile (2 hours or so) walk climbing three hills towards the eastern end of the Ochil hills. On a fine day it provides stunning views, particularly from Seamab Hill, towards the Lomond Hills and the River Forth.

Meet at 10:30am in the large lay-by beside Castlehill Reservoir  - half way along the A823 (Glendevon Road) and about 3km north of Yetts of Muckhart.

It’s a circular walk with a gradual ascent up Auchlinsky hill, a short section of which is through a commercially planted conifer forest. Once on the open Commonedge hill, after negotiating a fence or two, we soon reach the summit of Seamab hill from which we can take in the full 360 degree view. The descent also provides good open views and soon takes us into land acquired by the Woodland Trust in 2000 where we can enjoy a wide variety of trees and plants before returning to our cars.

Coffee and toilets are available at Mona’s in Muckhart which some of you will remember from previous walks. Light walking boots should be sufficient unless very wet.
