Lime Craig from Braeval Car Park

Friday 25 January - 10:30am
Meet at Braeval car park which is almost three miles from Port of Menteith on the RHS of A81 going towards Aberfoyle.

The walk starts with a short steep incline up to the main forestry path which climbs steadily through woodland to the top of Lime Craig.  This is an ideal spot for a break, so bring a drink and a snack. From here we descend by a steep scree path (some may remember this from the time we did the Highland Boundary walk) to meet the main path which leads down to the Highland Boundary Fault Line and the Lodge. Before the Lodge there is a very short detour to a hide, a good place to see red squirrels.  At this point, we could return on the lower path back to the car park but, before we do this, it is recommended that we visit the cafe at the Lodge.

If the conditions are good enough to enable us to do this circuit, it will take about 3 - 4 hours (depending on the time spent at the hide and cafe). 7 miles.  If not, we can do a shorter, easier walk from either Braeval or the Lodge. Walking boots/shoes and poles (if you use them) are recommended.
